A week ago I went to another really great concert. The British indie-rock band Circa Waves came to the MTC in Cologne and it was amazing!
The band was founded in 2013 by Kieran Shudall (vocals, guitar), Sam Rourke (bass), Colin Jones (drums) and Joe Falconer (lead guitar) after they met each other at the Liverpool Sound City. In the same year, they played a few shows within the UK and released their debut single ‘Get Away/Good For Me” via Transgressive Records. In 2014, they released their ‘Young Chasers EP’ via Virgin Records in the USA and toured with bands such as The 1975 or The Libertines throughout the UK and played several European, as well as international Festivals such as Glastonbury, Hurricane and Southside, Reading and Leeds Festival, or the T-in the park. Their Debut album ‘Young Chasers’ was finally released in mid-2015. Afterwards, the band toured again in the UK and played more festivals before they announced they would release a second album. ‘Different Creatures’ were released in spring 2017. Musically, Circa Waves have very raw sounding rock songs which let them sound really authentic. Their music brings loads of energy and vividness with it, which is absolutely made for being played live on stage in a small pub-ish club.

The MTC in Cologne, where I have been before to see Slaves (US), was a fitting venue for that kind of music. But before Circa Waves entered the stage, Inheaven opened the stage. Inheaven is a British alternative indie-rock band from South London and consists of James Taylor (vocals, guitar), Chloe Little (vocals, bass), Joe Lazarus (drums) and Jake Lukas (guitar). Being signed to Epic records, the band has released four EP’s so far, which are ‘Regeneration’ (2015), ‘Bitter Town’ (2015), ‘Baby’s Alright’ (2016), and ‘Treats’ (2016), as well as some Singles. Musically, the songs sound rebellious and energetic. Cloe and James both sing the songs.

When Inheaven entered the stage the club was still not that crowded. Nevertheless, everyone seemed to enjoy their music and danced, jumped or clapped along. They entertained the crowd and had a blast on stage themselves. Unfortunately, the acoustic in the club was not on point and the whole sound was a little bit too noisy, chaotic and mixed up.
After a short sound check, Circa Waves entered the stage and with the first guitar riff, the whole crowd started jumping, moshing, singing dancing and just had an amazing time. The acoustic was also a little better than before but still not great in my opinion. However, that didn’t lessen the great atmosphere at all. The lights for both shows have been kept quite dark and simple which was absolutely fitting and supporting the music. As it was the last show of the tour they seemed to try getting the best experience they can get for the last show as well as offer the crowd an amazing performance. Everyone had loads of fun and it was a special time for sure. In the end, the band invited not only

In the end, the band invited not only Inheaven on stage with them but also the crowd in front of the stage to finish with a great ‘Goodbye’ and magical vibes.
